Painted monasteries. Suceviţa, Aug 1999

Near the Ukrainian border there are a series of stunning
painted monasteries. This one is at Sucevita, and is from
the late 16th century. Well worth a visit.

Two-and-a-half minutes of goosebump-filled totality from
Rimnicu Vilcea. We couldn't have had nicer weather or a
better vantage point; it really was something special.
